Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support the operations of the Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR). The Center for Undergraduate Research empowers UDC students to engage in discovery, innovation, and creative scholarship. CUR provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities for students to conduct research alongside faculty and peers, while fostering academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement.

Reporting to the Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies and working closely with the Office of Title III Programs, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities, coordinating programs and events, supporting faculty-student research initiatives, and ensuring effective communication and reporting. The incumbent will play a key role in connecting students with research opportunities, supporting faculty mentors, coordinating workshops and events, and promoting undergraduate research across the UDC community. This role is central to advancing CUR's mission of fostering a culture of inquiry, discovery, and faculty-mentored research across all academic disciplines.

The Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR) at UDC supports student success by fostering faculty-mentored undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity across disciplines. CUR provides resources, training, and opportunities for students to engage in meaningful research experiences that prepare them for graduate education, professional careers, and lifelong learning. CUR empowers UDC students to engage in discovery, innovation, and creative scholarship. CUR provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities for students to conduct research alongside faculty and peers, while fostering academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students and faculty engaging with CUR.
  • Support students in exploring research opportunities, preparing applications, and accessing resources.
  • Coordinate undergraduate research programs, workshops, symposia, and events.
  • Serve as the primary contact for CUR activities, providing guidance to students, faculty, and campus partners.
  • Manage program logistics, calendars, deadlines, and application processes.
  • Manage logistics for CUR programming, including scheduling, communication, and outreach.
  • Maintain databases of accurate records of participation, project outcomes, and funding allocations.
  • Support faculty mentors and students in navigating research opportunities and compliance requirements.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness.
  • Prepare newsletters, promotional materials, and web content to highlight student and faculty research achievements.
  • Assist with Title III reporting, assessment, and grant support for CUR initiatives.
  • Represent CUR at campus events and professional meetings as needed.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment for student researchers.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, administration, project management, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, higher education administration, research support, or related professional roles.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management tools.
