Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for a Recruiter 1 in the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. The Recruiter 1 will play an essential role in promoting the growth of the institution and increasing awareness of our role as a premiere student-centered university. This position will deliver participant in recruitment events and initiatives and deliver engaging and informative presentations on admissions requirements, academic programs, financial aid options, scholarship opportunities, and other distinguishing elements of the university. These presentations will be tailored for a variety of audiences (particularly high school seniors), including prospective students, parents, school counselors, high school staff, and community members. Events will be conducted at high schools, college and career fairs, and community education programs. This position also involves targeted recruitment efforts, with a focus on designated recruitment populations, including our partner schools for Dual Enrollment and the Direct Admissions Program (DAP).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and professional presentations on admissions, scholarships, academic programs, and financial aid to a wide range of audiences, including prospective students and their families.
  • Represent the university at college fairs, high school visits, community events, and other outreach initiatives to promote enrollment and enhance institutional visibility.
  • Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies for specialized populations, such as students from the Direct Admissions Program (DAP) and our Dual Enrollment partner schools.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the New Student Scorpion Academic Scholarships, including tracking, reporting, and communication related to student acceptances.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and facilitation of recruitment events, including volunteer training for major campus programs such as Fall Open House and Scorpion Admitted Student Day.
  • Support other recruitment efforts and initiatives as needed (e.g., out of state recruitment)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in higher education, K-12 education, business, communication, or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to give effective and engaging presentations to both small and large groups.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to the recruitment and success of a largely diverse, first-generation student population.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and current vehicle registration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing, sales, or public relations.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in a higher education setting.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar student information systems and Element 451 or similar customer relations management (CRM) platform.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing events of varying sizes.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $46,057. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
