They will mainly assist member of the laboratory by carrying our standard DNA manipulations as well as aiding with routine fly work. They will also be responsible for maintenance of the laboratory’s collection of Drosophila stocks and for supporting the day-to-day running of the laboratory. Depending on prior experience and interests, the post holder may also contribute to bioinformatic and data-analysis projects within the lab. The post holder will need to have excellent organizational and research skills, a proven ability to work well with others and a positive attitude to learning and troubleshooting new methods. The successful candidate must have a demonstrable academic interest in the biological sciences. While experience working with Drosophila would be an advantage, training will be provided as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • General DNA manipulations, including PCR and genotyping.
