Researcher in Computer Science
Position Overview
The Department of Computer Science (CS) at Cornell University invites applications for multiple faculty positions at its Ithaca campus. Faculty will engage in teaching, research, and supervision of graduate students, contributing to the department’s mission of excellence in computer science education and research.
We welcome applicants from all areas of computer science and closely related disciplines. While this is a broad search, particular emphasis will be placed on candidates with expertise in:
- Systems
- Artificial Intelligence, especially:
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- AI for Science
- Applied Programming Languages
- Formal Methods
Faculty will be members of the Department of Computer Science, spanning Ithaca and New York City campuses. Teaching and research for these positions will be based in Ithaca. Separate applications are required for NYC campus positions: NYC Application Process.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Demonstrated ability to conduct outstanding research
- Expected to maintain an active research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervise graduate students

Salary and Employment Considerations

Tenure Status: Tenured and Tenure-Track

Salary Range: $83,200 – $357,300 (based on education, experience, discipline, and skills)
