The School of Global Innovation and Leadership prepares students to become innovative leaders with a global perspective in one of three concentrations: Operations and Supply Chain Management, Entrepreneurship, and International Business. All three concentrations provide students with cutting-edge knowledge and opportunities for practice and skill development. Students with a passion to create their own business or become corporate innovators are exposed to Silicon Valley's world-class innovation practices and leaders in the Entrepreneurship concentration. The Global Operations Management concentration prepares graduates with advanced knowledge of managing business operations in a global context. The International Business concentration prepares students for professional and administrative positions with organizations engaged in conducting, regulating or monitoring global business operations across national borders. The Lucas College and Graduate School of Business of San José State University welcomes applications for part-time faculty appointments to teach courses in its undergraduate programs, should an opening arise, on its main campus in San José, California, or online.

Brief Description of Duties

• We are seeking lecturers who are interested in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level and must be excellent in teaching and engaging with students. All classes to teach must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid). In addition to teaching during the designated class time must be responsible for weekly office hours, creating and evaluating student exams and assignments. Participating in faculty meetings and giving input on curriculum decisions is also desired. Positions start at the beginning of a semester and appointments may be renewed based on department need, funding, and performance.
• Candidate must demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity–including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation–through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
• All Faculty should be organizing their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), the official LMS provided for the SJSU community. All classes at SJSU, whether online or not, must be anchored in the Canvas platform to ensure faculty-student connection in a common space as all students are directed to log in to Canvas for online access to their classes. You will have access to this system prior to the semester start date.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or higher degree relevant to courses to teach, at least three years of professional experience.
• Knowledge and experience on the areas of teaching.
• Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• College teaching experience.

Anticipated starting salary:

• L-A / Range 2 - $5507 - $5959
• L-B / Range 3 - $6221 - $7481
• L-C / Range 4 - $6825 - $9431
• L-D / Range 5 - $8593 - $10347

Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty--part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
