Temporary Position Title: Seasonal Application Reader (6)

Temporary Position Summary: The Seasonal Application Reader will assist with admissions application review during Fall through early Spring. Readers will complete a holistic review of the academic record, attributes, and experiences of prospective first year applicants. Seasonal Reading Period is from mid-fall to late spring.

Temporary Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Readers will complete a mission-aligned holistic evaluation of admissions candidates.
• Readers will work a minimum of 5 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours.
• Readers can work remotely from any location and will have a flexible weekly schedule.
• Readers will have productivity goals that will outline the number of files reviewed per hour.
• Regularly communicate with the Director of Admissions regarding the review process and application volume.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
• Prior experience in college admissions
• Strong understanding of the Spelman College mission
• Access to a personal computer and secure internet connection
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality in handling applicant information and the review process
• Availability for two weeks of virtual training
• Ability to work independently, meet established goals, and demonstrate assertiveness
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret quickly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong typing skills

CONFIDENTIALITY & CONFLICT OF INTEREST Given the sensitive nature of the role, the Seasonal Application Reader may not serve in other roles that pose a conflict of interest. This includes undergraduate admissions positions at other four-year colleges, high school counselors, and independent educational consultants. In addition, the Seasonal Application Reader may not be the parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a high school junior or senior. Upon hiring, the Seasonal Application Reader will be asked to sign a confidentiality and conflict of interest statement.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with holistic application review at a selective institution
• Experience using Slate or a similar CRM
