Job Description
Job Function: Monroe Community College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Secretary I to support the Health Professions Department. This senior-level administrative role provides direct support to the Department Chairperson and collaborates with program directors, faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate will possess advanced computer skills, strong communication abilities, and experience in managing complex tasks within an accredited academic environment.

- Dental Studies (Dental Hygiene A.A.S., Dental Assisting Certificates)
- Radiologic Technology A.A.S.
- Health Information Management (HIM) Courses
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Department Support
- Prepare departmental reports, budgets, accreditation documentation, and course master schedules
- Maintain program websites and organize meetings, events, and advisory board sessions
- Manage requisitions, supply orders, and departmental files
- Support grant-related activities and accreditation processes
- Coordinate facility usage and resolve scheduling conflicts
- Assist with departmental committees, including retention, tenure, and promotion
Student Services
- Assist with student advisement, registration, and documentation
- Process overrides and collaborate with Admissions and student support staff
- Provide support to student aides and tutors
Staff Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate clerical and technical support staff
- Ensure compliance with college-wide training and documentation
- Support Health Information Management course coordination and clinical site logistics
Professional Communication
- Correspond with accreditation bodies, division leadership, Admissions, and strategic departments
- Liaise with Workforce Development and support planning initiatives
- Communicate hiring and budget processes with relevant college offices
- Support faculty and staff with departmental communications and documentation
Hiring & Onboarding
- Coordinate hiring and onboarding of faculty, clinical staff, and support personnel
- Enter workflows and ensure completion of college/program requirements
- Orient new hires to payroll systems and departmental procedures
Faculty Support
- Provide clerical support to faculty and staff
- Produce phase sheets and manage course documentation
- Assist with book orders, course supplies, and faculty development activities
Qualifications
- Advanced computer proficiency in an educational setting
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience supporting accredited academic programs preferred

Requirements
Required Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must currently hold the Monroe County Civil Service title of Secretary I, or be on the current eligible list for this title, or meet the minimum requirements for a temporary/provisional appointment, if offered:
- Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
- (A) Graduation with an Associate's degree, plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience*;
- OR,
- (B) Successful completion of at least thirty (30) college semester credit hours, plus two (2) years paid full-time, or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A) above;
- OR,
- (C) Three (3) years paid full-time, or its part-time equivalent experience as defined in (A) above
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: 8:45 am to 4:45 pm Monday - Friday
Salary: $49,281.77 annually
Pay Transparency Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the full salary scale for this position, which includes all pay steps within the range. The starting salary for all new hires is typically at the entry-level figure, as determined by the step placement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Progression through the range occurs over time based on established criteria such as length of service and performance. This range is provided to give applicants an understanding of the potential earnings over the course of a career in this role.
MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit-eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting, and compressed work schedules. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.
Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short-term, temporary basis.
