Job Description Summary
Research and analyze data to provide clients with salary offer and adjustment recommendations based on market and internal peer data that support recruitment and retention. Evaluate job descriptions to determine appropriate classification, job level, and job profile. Provide advice and guidance to clients regarding salary management and compliance issues. Interpret compensation policies and monitor pay practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Complete salary surveys. Support annual merit increase program and special projects.
In addition to all duties above the Senior Compensation Analyst takes a lead role in special projects including but not limited to compensation initiatives, market studies, development of training modules, maintenance of job architecture, salary structures, and compensation software, submission of required state reporting and dual employment reporting. Also supports the Executive Director and Director with report writing to senior leadership, executive compensation, communications, and development of staff level team members.
Job Description
Compensation Analyst duties includes:
- Analyze and provide staff salary offer/adjustment recommendations to clients that support recruitment and retention and that are based on market data and internal peer data.
- Evaluate and analyze job descriptions to determine the appropriate classification, job level, and job profile based on University's compensation system and FLSA.
- Provide advice/guidance to clients regarding individual, department or school-wide salary management and compliance issues such as FLSA, pay equity and legally defensible pay practices.
- Interpret compensation policies; monitor pay practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Review and ensure appropriateness of compensation events in the Workday inbox.
- Respond to compensation related tickets from Solution Center.
- Complete salary surveys and ensure submission of accurate data on a timely basis.
- Support the annual merit increase program.
- Assist with special projects including but not limited to research, compile and analyze data - producing visuals to support reporting to senior leadership, FLSA updates, compliance with state minimum wage and salary threshold, compensation software, compensation programs, job architecture, salary structures, and training presentations.
- As needed - partner with Staff and Labor regarding restructures and support for contract negotiations. May write/edit position descriptions.
- Other additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of human resources experience of which 1 year of full-time compensation experience is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Senior level qualifications are Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of compensation experience is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent quantitative and analytic skills. Demonstrated customer service and negotiation skills. Familiarity of compensation laws and regulations. Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Desire to learn and develop as a compensation professional. Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a flexible, often ambiguous environment.
- Experience with Workday or PayFactors is a plus.
- CCP, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Targeted Pay Range
- Staff level $77,000 to $86,000
- Senior level $91,000 to $105,000
