Social Work Instructor - Master of Social Work
SUMMARY
The Department of Social Work at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a full-time, 10 month Instructor position in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. Responsibility includes teaching in a CSWE accredited MSW program, teaching across the curriculum in generalist and advanced level courses including policy, practice and field seminars. The faculty member will report to the chairperson of the Department of Social Work. Responsibilities also include participation in the advisement of students, governance, scholarship, service, and committee work. A NYS Social work license at the LMSW level is required within one year.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Teaches 4 graduate social work courses per semester, with primary assignments in areas such as social work practice and courses across the curriculum.
- Develops and updates course syllabi in alignment with CSWE competencies and department goals.
- Advises and mentors MSW students, including those preparing for internships.
- Collaborates with colleagues on curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation-related activities.
- Participates actively in departmental meetings, university service, and student-focused programming.
- Contributes to a learning environment grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience, particularly in practice settings
- A NYS Social Work license at the LMSW level within one year of hire
- Demonstrated commitment to graduate teaching and social work education
- Evidence of culturally responsive practice, cultural humility, and inclusive teaching strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior college-level teaching experience, particularly in social work or related disciplines
- Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Salary: $59,266.00 - $65,505.00 Annually
