Sr. Director of Development, School of Education
The Senior Director of Development, School of Education, is the chief advancement officer for UC Riverside's School of Education (SOE). The School of Education prepares students to become administrators, educators, advocates, and scholars who promote excellence and equity in every area of education. Under the leadership of the Sr. Executive Director, Constituency Programs, Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, School of Public Policy, School of Education, UCR Library, Athletics, Regional and Pipeline Development, and Student Affairs, and in close collaboration with the dean of SOE, the senior director will develop and execute long- and short-term strategies to grow the philanthropic pipeline and secure major gifts at the $50,000 level and above. The incumbent may have expertise in education foundations and be willing to support the dean and faculty in the development and solicitation of complex foundation proposals. The senior director will identify and manage approximately 150 individual donors and will travel locally and statewide frequently for qualification, cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship purposes. The senior director will arrange appropriate opportunities for key faculty and academic leadership to meet with prospective donors and will work collaboratively with other University Advancement colleagues to achieve fundraising goals. Additionally, the incumbent will partner with Alumni Relations to create opportunities for the engagement of high-level volunteers.
This is a three-year, renewable contract position that includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Campus presence required with hybrid accommodations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 8 - 13 years of related experience, preferably in fundraising in Higher Education.
- Valid driver's license and enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Expert knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
- Expert organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Expert written and interpersonal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as an expert or lead development professional in specialized areas such as major/principal gifts or corporate/foundation relations.
- Manages a portfolio of donor prospects, including the most influential and highest capacity-rated donors.
- Qualifies major gift prospects and solicits gifts directly.
