Job Description:
The responsibilities of the Staff Assistant (Information Systems) include the following:
- Serves as the central point of contact between end-users and the technical computer support staff
- Serves as the central point of contact between functional business offices and IT staff for purposes of procuring, tracking of hardware, and software licenses
- Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies
- Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software for performing work assignments
- Evaluates new reporting requirements and develops modifications to existing information systems to satisfy these requirements
- Evaluates the significance of each request for information systems services in view of the department's established procedures and priorities for such services
- Evaluates proposed adjustments or expansion of existing information systems services and makes recommendations regarding their effectiveness
- May provide input in the preparation of the department's annual budget for information systems services
- Assists in establishing the department's priorities for Information Technology services
- Surveys and analyzes the departmental operations for suitable application of information services
- Assists in the preparation, development, and monitoring of the departmental annual budget, including operational, capital and grant funds
- Works with assigned the Budget Office to implement departmental budgeting activities
- Collects and analyzes financial data using established methods and procedures for the preparation of reports to keep management abreast of departmental operations and impact on budgeted funds
- May perform other incidental tasks, as needed
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam. The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and either: (a) A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or closely related field; OR (b) Five (5) years of experience where a primary function of the position was maintaining or supporting computer systems and their associated hardware or software. SUBSTITUTION: Satisfactory completion of 30 credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required experience. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice in all college policies, practices, and personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The preferred qualifications include the following: Proficiency in some or all of the following: Microsoft (Office 365, Teams, Excel, Word) and Windows 11, Oracle Peoplesoft Finance. Basic understanding of various types of equipment Servers, PCs, Storage systems, Switches, Access Points, Printers, Scanners, cables, and various software applications. Ability to order, purchase, and receive software, hardware, and services. Ensure priorities are clearly defined and reviewed on a weekly basis.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled. SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $59,798. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $74,173.
