Staff Scientist Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery SOM
Virginia Commonwealth University's Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is expanding its research lab to encompass basic science, clinical research, translational science, and device development. Our lab is dedicated to investigating skin biology, skin conditions such as keloids and hypertrophic scars, burn physiology, and the regeneration of skin and soft tissues.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD to join our team. The successful candidate will support research initiatives, including laboratory work with cellular models, sequencing patient and animal samples, analyzing therapeutic compounds, and conducting small and large animal experiments. The role involves collaboration with faculty on project development, IRB/IACUC approval, experiments, meetings, and grant proposals.
This is a restricted position with continued employment dependent on project need, funding, and performance.
Required Qualifications: PhD in a related field; experience with animals (rodents and swine), cellular models, sample processing, sequencing, animal models, heart function, muscle physiology, wet lab techniques, managing multiple projects, biostatistics, and excellent communication skills. Preferred: Experience in biomedical engineering and medical device design.
