The position is responsible for the full spectrum of surgical oncology diseases with an emphasis on Melanoma. Will participate in medical student, resident and fellow education as well as research and scholarly activity commensurate with qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- All aspects of melanoma/surgical oncology surgery
- Education of students, residents and fellows
- Development of a melanoma focused research program
- Scholarly activities related to surgical oncology melanoma and sarcoma
- Scope of work will span both the Anschutz Medical Campus and affiliated satellite practices
- Co-Manage and expand Melanoma clinical program across the Denver metro area (including all locations where the division currently operates); develops and grows collaboration across the entire system; partners with Co-Director in Medical Oncology.
- Support growth and expansion of research and scholarly activity within the Melanoma Surgery Group and the Division of surgical oncology and collaborating divisions.
- Supports and manages relationships across the entire system as it relates to melanoma surgery and surgical oncology (including but not limited to other specialties that work with melanoma surgery and system leadership).
- Provide care to patients in the outpatient Surgical Oncology melanoma clinics.
- Close collaboration with general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary.
- Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and multidisciplinary providers is essential.
- Surgeon may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services.
