Student Accessibility Center Access Coordinator

Job Description

The Access Coordinator provides consultation, information, resources, and referrals to faculty, staff and students, while providing ongoing case management to students with disabilities. Evaluates unique student's needs in order to provide appropriate services and academic accommodations, in collaboration with the student and faculty.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload and provide ongoing case management.
  • Consults with students with disabilities who are eligible for services by reviewing/interpreting documentation and conducting interviews.
  • Provides consultation and education to faculty, staff, students, and family members on regulations regarding accessibility, confidentiality issues, strategies for assisting and referrals to appropriate campus services.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating online portal, and communication.
  • Responsible for collaborative outreach and communication to campus stakeholders to include faculty, staff, and students.
  • Serves as a resource and is responsive to customer calls and inquiries.
  • Responsible for data collection and submission of monthly reports.
  • Keeps current on latest best practices, technologies, and regulations related to supporting students with disabilities in higher education.
  • Participate in system wide and/or external committees as a representative of the department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university, or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Additional Job Posting Information: Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience. Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
