Student Assistant-Advising, Career & Transfer Services
Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Career Services, the Student Assistant provides assistance to students in our advising lab with all aspects of online self-service functions, including OwlNet login and navigation; printing schedules; assisting with scheduling classes; scheduling appointments; applying for graduation; using DegreeWorks; supporting LiveChat; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The Student Assistant also monitors incoming job postings; assists employers and students with accessing College Central Network; scheduling employer recruitment tables; and other duties as assigned.
As a condition of employment, this position requires participation in a Maryland State Retirement System plan.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.
Required Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Required Experience: One year of customer service experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) or similar applications (e.g., Google Workspace).
- Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and able to create an open and welcoming environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
