About UOW

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is a globally recognised institution with a proud history of excellence in teaching, learning and research. Our vibrant community includes students from more than 130 countries, and we’re committed to delivering a world‑class, internationally focused learning experience.

About the Role

As a Student Communications Specialist, you’ll be right at the centre of shaping how students experience university life. You’ll help plan, develop and deliver key information students need, at all stages of the student lifecycle.

You’ll work across multiple digital channels ensuring communications are clear, timely and aligned with university strategy, lifecycle milestones and compliance requirements. You’ll also work closely with business units to bring their priorities to life by creating or reviewing content for diverse student cohorts and ensuring they reflect UOW’s tone and branding.

You’ll use multiple complex systems and data sets to identify the right audiences and deliver communications. You’ll also monitor performance, analyse metrics and feedback, and turn insights into improvements—backed by regular reporting that demonstrates impact and supports decision making.

About You

You’re someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and loves turning complex information into clear, engaging and inclusive content. You have experience delivering multichannel communications in complex or high-visibility settings, you have advanced technical skills, and are confident using tools like CMS platforms, email and marketing systems, social media and other digital technologies.

You write with clarity, energy and purpose, and you know how to tailor content for different audiences. You’re comfortable working with spreadsheets to segment audiences, and you’re known for your attention to detail and ability to juggle competing deadlines. You bring strong analytical skills, using data to understand what’s working and where we can improve. You’re confident identifying and managing risks in communications, and you have exceptional stakeholder management skills.

A background in the Australian higher education sector or familiarity with student lifecycle processes is a bonus.
