Student Success Case Manager- Messina College

Job Description

As the two-year residential college division at Boston College, Messina College provides an associate's degree program to 200 first-generation students with high-financial need. The program prepares students to pursue a bachelor's degree or begin their professional careers. Messina College students live and study on Boston College's Brookline Campus and have full access to BC's facilities and events.

The Student Success Case Manager provides case management and outreach to students to facilitate their success at Messina College. This includes providing direct clinical-needs assessment and short-term supportive counseling to Messina College students, as well as liaising with University partners (e.g., University Counseling Services and Dean of Students) to provide appropriate referrals for students. Through the provision of these services and participating in regular student success meetings, the incumbent will enhance students' capacity for resilience and flourishing within the campus community.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $59,400 to $74,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Completed Master's Degree in social work; experience with case management and referrals

  • Training in case management and care coordination, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Experience working with different populations such as first-generation students

In addition, candidates must have:

  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Understand and support the Jesuit Catholic mission of Boston College
  • Flexibility to evolve with a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Knowledge of legal and policy issues, specifically in the areas of disability services and addressing students who may be threats to self or others;
  • Knowledge and understanding of pertinent federal and state legislation in higher education such as FERPA and Americans with Disabilities Act;
  • Understanding of student development issues;
  • Knowledge of common issues/ challenges and best practices in supporting a population of undergraduate students to succeed in higher education (including students with disabilities and students with high financial need)
