Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Student Support Officer to join Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice.

The Student Support Officer role is organisationally positioned within the faculty’s Specialist Student Support team and delivers specialist, high quality professional services to students throughout their university lifecycle. The role serves as a key point of contact for the provision of advice on university policies and procedures to both students and faculty staff, and requires the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with all stakeholders across QUT and externally. The position operates collaboratively within a team environment and actively contributes to continuous business process and service improvement. The Specialist Student Support team members contribute to a workplace culture which optimises acceptance and understanding of cultural diversity and inclusiveness.

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of a degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of professional, client service in a busy client-orientated environment Including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and balance competing demands.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing needs.
  4. Strong written and oral communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  5. Interpersonal skills which demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively with and provide excellent service to a diverse range of people in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality.
  6. Demonstrated ability to use intermediate functions of office technology software applications including Microsoft Office, e-mail, student/client management systems, social media, and databases.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
