SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Development and Alumni Relations Officer. This position is responsible for the delivery of an annual fundraising and alumni relations plan. This role is charged with meeting metric-driven annual goals for fundraising and alumni engagement. The Development and Alumni Relations Officer must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full-time, exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week. This position reports to the Vice President, Institutional Advancement, and is paid $60,000 - $70,000 annually.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, working closely with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, colleagues, the President, and members of the Board of Trustees.
- Lead the College’s alumni engagement efforts; engage alumni, and increase their connection to each other and the College by organizing, managing, and directing alumni programming, activities, communications, and special projects.
- Engage alumni in the College’s annual events, in partnership with marketing and events partners.
- Manage a portfolio of up to 50 prospects through the donor pipeline; using fundraising best practices for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Track donor engagements in Institutional Advancement’s constituent relationship management platform.
- Utilize dashboards and regularly analyze data to influence strategies for fundraising and alumni engagement.
- Develop productive relationships with the community, including donors, and prospective donors.
- Support the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to provide donors with the highest level of stewardship, responsible reporting, and ongoing cultivation.
- Travel to visit donors, locally and nationally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Represent MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree with preference for nonprofit and/or fundraising focus, or related area of study required; advanced degree, preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in development and/or alumni relations, required.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, required.
- Possess a high level of analytical thinking and strategic planning, independent judgment and initiative, required.
- Evidence of successful fundraising in the arts and/or higher education including experience with a major capital campaign and direct solicitations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and succeed in a collaborative environment, strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in building strong relationships, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders, preferred.
- Strong problem solving skills and technical aptitude.
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to travel; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1886, Minneapolis College of Art and Design is located in the rich creative community of the Twin Cities. Recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative approaches to art and design education, MCAD is home to approximately 800 students from 45 states and 15 countries. The college offers bachelor’s degrees in fourteen disciplines including arts entrepreneurship, design, fine arts, and media arts; one MFA; three online master’s degrees; and continuing education classes for all ages. Through the core curriculum, students focus on their careers and craft by learning technical and professional skills while developing their creative leadership capabilities.
