The Systems Administrator will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the college's server infrastructure. This includes having end-to-end responsibility for our UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware, and Hyper-V environments, as well as other operating systems and platforms. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical background and the ability to lead projects that enhance and expand our server capabilities.

What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For
The Server Administrator is responsible for the end-to-end management of our college's server infrastructure This role involves administering and maintaining server platforms, leading projects to introduce new server functionality, and integrating new applications into our existing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- System and Server Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of college host computers, including performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
- Maintain physical and virtual servers (UNIX, Linux, Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, and other OS platforms) through installation, patching, and upgrades.
- Install, modify, and maintain system and utility software on all server systems.
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of all mission-critical resources.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide support by troubleshooting and resolving user incidents, often collaborating with vendors and other support teams.
- Respond to and debug system issues.
- Provide routine administration for data protection and disaster recovery, including backups, restores, and data aging.
- Project and Planning:
- Coordinate project plans and schedules for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
- Participate in the design, deployment, and maintenance of new systems and virtual machines.
- Conduct pilot projects for new solutions.
- Develop new system implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures.
- Documentation and Security:
- Develop and maintain documentation and procedures to ensure college assets are properly managed and operated.
- Establish procedures to maintain system security, protect against unauthorized use, and prevent data loss.
- Ensure proper records are kept for system downtime and equipment inventory.
- Collaboration and Vendor Relations:
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure solutions are operating as documented.
- Research and evaluate third-party applications for potential integration into the college's server environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Minimum qualifications may vary based on assigned area of responsibility.
- Four years of applied work experience in data, or video or voice telecommunications planning, implementing and supporting both wide area and local area network environments, or server management, video streaming, or audio visual media, as related to area of assignment.
- Must possess state-of-the art (current) knowledge of data, video streaming, or voice network telecommunications technology such as TCP/IP, Microsoft Windows, and be familiar with hardware and software diagnostics. The above-mentioned qualifications could be demonstrated by possessing applicable certifications.
- A valid Oregon Driver's License for operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Oregon.
- Some positions may require a State of Oregon Limited Energy Technician-Class A.

- Experience with enterprise backup such as Rubrik, Avamar, Commvault
- Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python
- Proven experience with automated configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Experience with enterprise-grade network architectures and SAN/NAS storage infrastructure.
- Strong communication and procedure documentation skills
- In-depth knowledge of server administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Automation Expertise: Proven experience with automated configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible, to streamline system deployment and maintenance.
- Advanced Scripting and Automation Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, such as user account management, patching, log analysis, and system health checks.
- Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Perl.
- Ability to develop custom scripts and utilities to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Data Protection: Direct experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network architectures and SAN/NAS storage infrastructure.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to create clear, professional procedure documentation.

How We Determine Initial Salary Placement
Minimum $75,965 to range midpoint of $78,242. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
