Job Summary: The Education and Outreach team in the Information and Communications Lab/Georgia Tech Research Institute is seeking qualified applicants to serve as high school education/teaching and computer science education expertise. This position will assist in training GTRI/GT research faculty and staff engaged in instructing rural high school students in computer science education. This position will be part of an Instruction Team, assisting in developing and delivering Computer Science modules to partner high schools in rural Georgia. Finally, this position will also be part of the STEM computer science professional development team charged with teaching, training, and instruction, both internally and externally with our cohorts, as part of the Rural Computer Science for High School Education Program.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications: 4 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in education
Preferred Experience: Additional experience and/or degree in computer engineering, science, or related field. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. 0 years of related experience with a Master degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES: Teaches high school computer science program modules. Assists in reviewing/revising course content to ensure that it is current, well organized, aligns to State standards, and related to course learning objectives. Attend and assist in conducting professional development activities provided to participating districts teachers. Participate in professional development with an internal Rural CS team focused on computer science instructional modules. Provide instruction following the lesson plans approved by the project's curriculum team. Participate in regular debriefing sessions with members of the project management team regarding the progress of instruction and the effectiveness of lesson plans. Provide ongoing assistance to participating district's educators and students. Provide feedback to participating districts, teachers and students on submitted culminating projects.
Other Information: This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position may travel 25% - 49% of the time. This position does not require security clearance.
