Tenured/Tenure-Track Associate or Full Professor in School Psychology or Special Education

The Department of Health Studies & Applied Educational Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University is recruiting a Professor (Associate or Full Rank, Tenured/Tenure-Track) who conducts applied, literacy research with an emphasis in reading. Ideally, the candidate will have an established line of research that examines reading development and empirically driven interventions at the child, classroom, or school levels. We are especially interested in scholars with a proven track record of federal grant funding.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the ongoing work to strengthen community-based partnerships with the New York City Public Schools, including training educators to implement best practices informed by literacy inquiry and reading research to support diverse learners. The successful candidate should be dedicated to promoting inclusion and multicultural competence and will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

Candidates will contribute to coursework on reading development, assessment, and intervention for students across school psychology and special education, which includes the Advanced Certificate in Literacy. The HAEP Department prepares researchers and practitioners who apply a social-ecological lens to the study of the social determinants of well being and evidence-based practices to improve learning, social-emotional, and health outcomes of students and their families.

Candidates should submit materials electronically to TC Careers including a cover letter (addressing fit for the position, including past research, teaching, advising, and leadership experience), research statement, vita, and the names of three individuals who can be contacted as references. Questions can be directed to Dr. Melissa Collier-Meek, chair of the search committee, at HAEPliteracy@tc.columbia.edu.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in special education, school psychology, or a closely related field. Professional history of research, publication, teaching, and service related to literacy commensurable with tenure.

Preferred Qualifications: History of federal grant funding. Contributions to community-based partnerships related to literacy. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity.
