Why Your Role Matters

The Timetabling Consultant plays an important role in delivering high-quality timetabling and room booking services that support UNSW’s teaching, learning, and student experience objectives.

Working within the Timetabling team, you will contribute to the planning, coordination, production, and maintenance of UNSW’s central teaching timetable and learning space bookings. The role also provides operational support and expert advice to Schools and Faculties on class management and timetabling processes within the University’s student systems.

This is a collaborative and fast-paced role that requires strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing operational priorities across a large and complex university environment. You will work closely with stakeholders across UNSW to support effective teaching delivery, space utilisation, and positive timetable outcomes for staff and students.

The position reports to the Lead, Timetabling and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the delivery and ongoing maintenance of UNSW’s central teaching timetable and room booking services, ensuring services are delivered accurately and within agreed timeframes
  • Balance competing demands relating to student progression, teaching requirements, staff preferences, and space utilisation
  • Act as a key user of timetabling and student systems, providing advice, training, and operational support to Schools and Faculties
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the University, delivering high-quality customer service and guidance on timetabling processes and systems
  • Support operational and strategic initiatives related to timetabling, curriculum planning, teaching delivery, and space optimisation
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, user guides, and training materials
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of timetabling processes, systems, and operational practices
  • Participate in system testing activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), as required

About you

You may come from a higher education administration background, such as a Teaching Support Officer or a similar role with exposure to course structure. You are organised, a team player, and enjoy working in a fast-paced operational environment where accuracy and collaboration are important.
