Transfer & Adult Student Recruitment Specialist

The Transfer & Adult Student Recruitment Specialist is responsible for developing and executing targeted recruitment strategies primarily in Forsyth and Davidson counties to attract, engage, and enroll transfer and adult learners at Winston-Salem State University, a proud Historically Black College and University (HBCU). This position focuses on strengthening access pathways for non-traditional students, including those returning to college, community college transfers, working adults, military-affiliated students, and others seeking degree completion.

A key focus of this role is fostering robust recruitment pipelines from the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS). The Specialist will build strategic partnerships with community college advisors, faculty, and administrators to facilitate student transfer and promote degree completion opportunities at Winston-Salem State University.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement targeted recruitment strategies focused on transfer and adult student populations, with a primary emphasis on students enrolled in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
  • Build and maintain relationships with advisors, transfer coordinators, and leadership at NCCCS institutions across the state.
  • Travel regularly to NCCCS campuses to represent WSSU at transfer fairs, advising days, career expos, and other student-facing events.
  • Support and promote the university’s participation in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and Bilateral Agreements with specific NCCCS colleges.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Transfer and Adult Student Services and NCCCS partners to support joint programming, articulation alignment, and pathway awareness.
  • Provide personalized admissions guidance to NCCCS students, including credit transfer evaluation, program matching, and transition planning.
  • Create and deliver workshops and information sessions—both virtual and in-person—on topics such as degree completion, adult student success, and transfer credit policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain up-to-date transfer guides, articulation resources, and adult learner onboarding tools.
  • Support data collection and reporting efforts related to NCCCS recruitment and community college enrollment trends.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Marketing to tailor materials and campaigns for North Carolina community college audiences.
  • Uphold the university’s mission of equity and access by engaging students from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in college admissions, recruitment, advising, or community engagement—preferably with a focus on transfer or adult learners.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or recruiting from North Carolina Community Colleges is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of transfer processes, articulation agreements (especially the North Carolina Comprehensive Agreement), and credit evaluation practices.
  • Ability to travel across North Carolina and represent the university in a professional, student-centered manner.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and data tracking tools (e.g., Slate and Banner).
  • Experience as a community college student or advisor is a plus.

Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10am - 7pm, occasional evenings/weekends – flexible schedule.
