Visiting Assistant Professor in Chemistry (2 Positions)
Job Summary/Basic Function
Wright State University is inviting applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Chemistry, one with expertise in biochemistry and another in polymer chemistry, to begin on August 1, 2026. In addition to teaching these specialized topics, successful candidates are also expected to teach first year and second year chemistry classes. There is an opportunity to mentor Chemistry BS and MS students also. Wright State is a comprehensive, medium-sized regional university focused on student success while emphasizing experiential learning. The proximity of the campus to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base/Air Force Research Laboratory fosters research collaborations and provides experiential learning opportunities for students. Faculty development is critical for student success and the university offers support for teaching, grant writing, and leadership through training and workshops.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. or ABD in chemistry or related field with research emphasis in biochemistry or polymer chemistry
- At least a one-year teaching experience in post-secondary level
- Completed Ph.D. requirements at the start of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience at the start of appointment as a postdoctoral researcher or in a related postgraduate position
- Documented pedagogical and curricular success at the college level
Essential Functions and percent of time
The expected workload is as follows:
- Teaching - 85%
- Service - 15%
