The School of Molecular Sciences (SMS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 3, 2026. This is a fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position. The successful candidate will drive the development of online master’s degree programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry in collaboration with unit leadership and staff. The person will develop coursework and coordinate online graduate program curriculum development functions for the School of Molecular Sciences and ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and offer graduate-level courses. Initial tasks will include the creation of one professional development course per semester, followed by the coordination of capstone projects through rolling culminating experience courses.
  • Work with students and faculty to arrange capstone project advising relationships.
  • Manage the scheduling of core and elective courses to ensure that MS students have ample opportunity to complete their program requirements. The Clinical Assistant Professor will also work with program faculty to identify opportunities for curriculum development.
  • Arrange industrial partnerships and internships, virtual seminars, and career fairs that offer students an opportunity to enhance and apply their expertise in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
  • Collaborate with program faculty and staff to nominate students for scholarships and fellowships.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of digital program resources, including program handbooks.
  • Compile and submit program assessment data in collaboration with faculty.
  • Oversee alumni relations with the help of advising staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry by the time of appointment.
  • Experience teaching chemistry or biochemistry in a lecture or laboratory setting. This experience may be in-person or in an online setting.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing educational materials and/or programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (as evidenced by completed application materials).
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Supervisory experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience managing projects including planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
  • Experience in fostering industrial or community partnerships with academic groups.
  • Experience implementing technological tools in an educational setting.
  • Evidence of exceptional professionalism, critical thinking skills, and initiative.
  • A strong potential for success in serving the needs of students, and a record of including them in literature- or laboratory-based research activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.
