Visiting Scholar, PhD Candidate, Spring 2026
Call for Applications
The Center for the Study of Antisemitism at New York University is now accepting applications for doctoral students who wish to join the Center as visiting scholars during the Spring 2026 semester. Scholars are eligible at the A.B.D. level and from any relevant field.
Candidates whose work focuses on any aspect of historical or contemporary antisemitism are welcome to apply. Candidates may be at the research or writing phase of their dissertation and must articulate a clear and compelling research agenda for their semester in residence at the Center.
Position Description
Ph.D. visiting scholars from outside NYU are considered guests of the university and have no formal responsibilities and do not receive compensation or benefits. The Center for the Study of Antisemitism will provide a monthly award of $2,000. Those not currently residing in New York City will also receive round-trip travel to and from New York. Housing is not provided.
Visiting scholars are expected to be in residence and participate in Center events for the duration of the semester of their residency with the exception of research or other limited trips. All scholars will receive shared office space, modest administrative support, and access to the NYU library and other university resources and privileges while at the Center. Scholars are encouraged to make full use of the scholarly resources available throughout the University, such as in the Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, the Taub Center for Israel Studies, the Goldstein Goren Center for American Jewish History, and other relevant programs.
Application Guidelines
Applications are due by October 3, 2025. Applicants should submit the following as separate documents:
- Cover letter including a description of the research specialization and research proposal to be undertaken at the Center for the Study of Antisemitism
- Curriculum vitae
- One sample of recently scholarly work, such as a dissertation chapter or advanced seminar paper related to the candidate’s chosen topic
- A letter of recommendation from your advisor or member of your PhD committee
