The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) supports the co-curricular and out-of-the-classroom experiences of West Chester University students and aspires to support a campus community where students build healthy personal and professional connections, develop a sense of belonging, and engage thoughtfully with others.
The Office of Student Engagement is the official umbrella office of all recognized undergraduate student organizations and provides WCU students with transformative learning opportunities that prepare them to be active global citizens through involvement in student organizations, intentional programming, and interpersonal interactions.
Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement, the Associate Director provides oversight of student organization management and event planning; serves as the primary contact for student organizations and co-curricular leadership opportunities; collaborates with key partners to develop new opportunities for student leadership and increase engagement; and provides oversight in student organization management and leadership development for all students to create transformative learning opportunities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience supervising, training, and developing student staff and collaborating with diverse campus partners; excellent written communication and presentation skills; and experience developing and managing program budgets.
Responsibilities include:
- Co-advise Leadership Empowerment and Development (LEAD), and the Student Government Association
- Ensure student organization compliance with University policy
- Assist organizations with the student event management process
- Implement event management process improvements
- Coordinate and implement all student organization leadership training events
- Support organizations in navigating University Student Conduct process
- Supervise one graduate assistant, and the hiring process in coordination with WCU HEPSA program and Graduate Studies office
- Assist the Director with student organization risk management and legal liability
- Oversee the education and implementation of the University Anti-Hazing Policy
- Manage marketing efforts including brochures, annual reports, website maintenance and social media
- Assist with strategic planning, the compilation of reports and department assessment efforts
- Assist in the development of new student engagement opportunities
- Create and maintain collaborative University partnerships
- Assist with fall and spring involvement fairs
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, or closely related field
- Two years of professional student affairs experience
- Experience supervising graduate and undergraduate student staff
- Experience with online student organization management software such as CampusGroups/Engage
- Experience managing student organizations
- Experience advising student government associations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience planning, implementing and supervising programs and large-scale campus events
- Experience marketing programs and events through various platforms
- Experience with risk management
- Experience developing and managing program budgets
- Leadership development programming experience
