Adjunct Instructor, Reading and Literacy, UC Blue Ash College

About UC Blue Ash
The English and Communications Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Reading Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students. Job Overview
On a part-time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic functions include teaching college reading and/or academic study and learning strategies. This may include creating curricula or teaching from model curricula provided by the department.
Part-time faculty must have experience and training to provide course instruction in Reading, Literacy, and/or Developmental Education.
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner; (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year. (4) Participate in Reading assessment.
Classes may be offered in the day or evening depending upon availability. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions
On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses. Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications. Other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
Master’s degree in Reading or Literacy.
Required Experience
At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a college setting.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Ph.D. or ABD in Reading or Literacy. Experience teaching college Reading or Literacy courses.
