Department Summary
Ohio University is seeking an energetic and student-focused professional to serve as an Admissions Advisor, playing a vital role in connecting prospective students with the opportunities and resources that define the OHIO experience. This front-line recruitment role will guide students and families through the admissions process, applying knowledge of academic programs, policies, and student services to help them make informed decisions about their future. Through personalized engagement and a commitment to service, the Admissions Advisor contributes directly to the University's enrollment goals and student success.
As part of a collaborative admissions team, the Admissions Advisor will recruit and evaluate prospective students, manage territory-based outreach, and represent Ohio University at high schools, college fairs, and recruitment events. This position will build and maintain relationships with students, families, counselors, and community partners while delivering clear, accurate, and compelling information about the University. This role also involves reviewing applications, supporting admissions decisions, and ensuring a smooth and responsive experience for every prospective student.

Position Profile
Recruits, evaluates, and participates in the selection of candidates for University admission. Coordinates with all internal departments, external organizations, and individuals involved in the admissions process. Advises applicants and parents about educational planning. Ensures the effective and compliant processing of student applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and less than 3 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in college admissions, academic advising in higher education, college student personnel, or counseling or teaching in secondary schools; demonstrated interpersonal and written communication and public speaking skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Data analysis experience.
The incumbent is able to represent the University in a professional and positive manner and abide by the National Association for College Admission Counseling's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission. Ability to travel independently including overnight and internationally. Ability to pass background checks, university judiciary review, and regular driving history audits.
