Position Information
The purpose of the Assistant Director is to oversee all aspects of diversity recruitment and application evaluation within the UC Riverside Undergraduate Admissions office. In concert with the Director and Associate Directors of Undergraduate Admissions, the incumbent is responsible for developing an annual strategic plan in line with the campus and Enrollment Services strategic plans to meet diversity enrollment objectives. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the incumbent supervises full-time admission specialists who are responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of applicants to UCR. This position will require travel to recruit prospective and admitted students by providing oversight at various programs and events as well as participation in consortium travel and conferences.

Please Note: A presentation will be required as a part of this interview process.

The salary range for the Assistant Director, Diversity and Community Engagement is $71,100 - $128,700 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $85,500 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Must successfully complete a background check through the University's background check agency prior to your start date, and a fingerprint check through the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Education
Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Licenses

Valid Driver's License Required

Experience
6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred

Minimum Requirements
Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver's License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, if driving a university/personal vehicle for university related business. Required
Ability to drive and provide transportation for students to schools and event sites. Required
Must be able to pass a Department of Justice and FBI background check. Required
Travel Required
Travel Outside of Normal Business Hours Required
Shift Work (hours outside standard Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM work hours) Required

Preferred Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral presentations.
Ability to manage projects.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software.
Effective writing and editing skills, including experience developing policy/procedures, reports and presentations.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Ability to understand and interpret complex documents and data specifications.
Knowledge of human resources management policies with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking skills to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.
Demonstrated ability in supervising the work of others and the ability to organize and set priorities that accurately reflect department goals and objectives.

Additional Information
Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment.
