Job Description:

Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $58,000 - $60,000

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DDEI) invites applicants for the position of Coordinator of Diversity Education and DEI Engagement Initiatives. This is a full-time in person position that will report to the assistant director of UDiversity Educational Institute and work with a dynamic interdisciplinary team. The coordinator will support faculty, staff and students throughout campus and broader community in different modalities. UDiversity fosters connections by sponsoring various workshops and events that promote inclusion, respect, and bridge-building. In addition, this position will involve cultivating strategic partnerships to collaboratively lead campus-wide events that align with DEI initiatives.

The duties of this position are as follows:

  • Assist with design, delivering and facilitating diversity workshops to the campus and local community.
  • Consult and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify workshop needs to support the developmental needs of students, faculty, staff, and organizations.
  • Stay up to date with research and or best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility practices and/or theory.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for growth.
  • Develop programs and curriculum for a diverse audience of students, staff, and faculty.
  • Respond to requests for workshops and prepare the materials accordingly.
  • Works closely with student employees/interns in the department to guide assistance with operational needs of the department.
  • Manage the lifecycle of collaborative events in a team approach to include leading planning committees.
  • Assist with room reservations and layout planning; coordinate with facilities teams for audio/visual needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during events to troubleshoot issues, manage staff/volunteers, and ensure the schedule runs accordingly.
  • Assist with developing and managing event budgets, tracking expenses to ensure financial compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist with conducting post-event/seminar evaluations (surveys, data analysis) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with the marketing and communication team to assist with promotional materials, social media content, and invitations.
  • Collaborate with student government, academic departments, and alumni relations to ensure events meet the diverse needs of the campus community.
  • Assist with managing attendance lists and RSVP tracking.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in diversity education, corporate and/or policy compliance education
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and building custom classes/training sessions
  • Demonstrated experience with social, corporate, community, or academic event planning
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, learning platforms, and social media platforms
  • Experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders and units within an organization

Preferred:

  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated experience with adult learners and online/hybrid students
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum development
