Assistant Director of Academic Integrity

This position is a central member of the academic integrity team responsible for implementation of the Universitys academic integrity policy and procedures, including campus-wide academic integrity education and case management. This position will communicate frequently about sensitive academic integrity matters with faculty who have reported suspected violations, students charged with suspected violations, external personnel including parents and lawyers, and university staff, including assistant and associate deans who oversee adjudication of suspected violations.

This individual will also design, develop and deliver student centered academic integrity initiatives including, but not limited to, classroom visits, FYS 101 presentations, International Day of Integrity, and New Student Orientation. This position supervises all undergraduate student employees and oversees student training, contracts, and monthly professional development opportunities. This individual will also oversee general office administration including budget reconciliation and event scheduling. Some night and weekend hours may be required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree and three (3+) plus years of experience in Higher Education preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn, interpret and apply complicated policy and its related procedures.
  • High level of sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Problem solving and the ability to work without direct supervision as well as a demonstrated ability in the use and management of databases and websites.
  • Willingness and flexibility to effectively handle and deliver a high level of program coordinated customer service.
  • Highly collaborative, demonstrated skill in working on a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to train staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, disseminate and evaluate programming and training.
  • Knowledge of University operations and their related systems is highly preferred.
  • 2+ years in academic integrity, student conduct, Title IX, or related adjudication in adjacent field. Prior experience with case management software is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Oversee Community Outreach, Student Education, and Transition Programming:

  • Research and develop campus presentations and events for students based on academic integrity best practices and student development theory.
  • Lead the delivery of academic integrity education for all students.
  • Collaborate with Student Experience, Office of Student Living, the Office of First Year and Transfer Programs, FYS, HEOP, Honors, FASA, Athletes, and the Center for International Students to design and deliver specialized educational programming for new international students and others at heightened risk of being found in violation of academic integrity standards.
  • Design, evaluate and implement social media campaigns and other outreach methods to effectively communicate academic integrity expectations to students electronically.

Case management:

  • Oversee case management process.
  • Oversee the maintenance of Academic Integrity cases and electronic case records.
  • Work with school and college assistant/associate deans who serve as Academic Integrity Coordinators to ensure that cases are handled promptly, consistently, and in accord with the outlined policy and procedures.
  • Must stay current and effectively communicate federal regulations such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
  • Assess and implement process improvements to ensure cases are managed within the goals and expectations of the unit.

Student Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Supervise all aspects of the Student Academic Integrity Ambassadors and Student Panelists positions including student training, contract maintenance, and monthly professional development opportunities.

Functional Oversight:

  • Oversight of general Academic Integrity Office including budget processing, reconciliation, and website maintenance for the department.
  • Support the graduate student employee with seminar grading as needed over the summer months.
  • Oversee hearing scheduling for graduate level cases.
  • Manage scheduling of the Academic Integrity calendar including consultations, student events, and faculty training.

Department Growth and Development:

  • Work with staff to maintain and implement standards of academic integrity process, including written and online documentation, website approachability, policy readability, and effectiveness of office procedures.
