Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Workforce Development. This position reports to the Director of Education, Training, and Workforce Development. This position assists the Director in the identification, development, and implementation of programs, courses and services required to meet the in-service, non-credit, retraining and continuing education needs of the area's business and industrial community. In addition, this position also assists the Director in professional and clerical staff supervision, promotional activities, and the overall functioning of the department and assumes the responsibility for operation of the department in the absence of the Director.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities regarding the identification, development, scheduling, and operation of and Continuing Education and Workforce Development programs including, but not limited to: Open Enrollment, Workforce Development, Entrepreneurship Assistance Center, and Driver Safety and Training programs.
  • Coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive marketing program to promote the activities of the Workforce Development programs.
  • Provides outreach to local school districts to support workforce and career exploration activities.
  • Assists with recruiting and ensuring proper orientation, supervision, support and evaluation of instructional personnel involved in these programs.
  • Assess the present and long-range community educational needs in order to develop new non-credit programs.
  • Represents the Director in their absence as assigned.
  • Performs other related activities as may be assigned by the Director.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field is required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Additional training and/or education in the adult education field is desirable.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in program/project administration and/or economic development required.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in project management, marketing, training and/or workforce development preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Information:

The minimum annual salary for this position is $62,147. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
