Director for Adult Development & Literacy Programs
The purpose of this position is to direct and supervise adult developmental and literacy programs, including student intake, assessment, placement, instruction, and instructor professional development for Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, and GED courses, a job readiness program, clerical support, and the operation of Pearson Vue Testing Center. This is accomplished by supervising staff; administering federal and state grants and contracts; preparing and managing budgets; coordinating, scheduling, marketing, and supervising continuing education and training courses; and evaluating program effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.
Required Education: Bachelors Degree
Required Experience: A minimum of five years of related experience in adult education, including at least one year of experience in grant and budget development and management, and one year of direct supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in grant and budget development and management
- Strong instructional leadership skills
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and assessment
- Ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations
- Excellent team management and interpersonal skills
