Assistant Professor Career Line Clinical Psychologist

Assistant Professor Career Line Clinical Psychologist. The Department of Psychology at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time career line (non-tenure) faculty position at the Assistant level in our Clinical Science program. We are seeking applicants with a clinical science orientation who have strong interests in program development, administration, and evaluation. Qualified candidates will have interest in undergraduate and graduate (PhD and Masters) level teaching in clinically focused courses (e.g., introduction to clinical science and practice, psychopathology, courses focused on training students in evidence-based treatments and skills). Experience in teaching in or directing Masters level psychology graduate programs, experience in providing clinical supervision, and being license eligible in the state of Utah are highly preferred. We are interested in all qualified candidates, with special consideration for applicants that can contribute to one of our areas of specialty training (clinical child and family, clinical neuropsychology, clinical health psychology, and general psychopathology). The Department of Psychology values candidates who have experience working in settings with students and conducting research with individuals from all backgrounds, including historically underrepresented individuals, and welcomes candidates whose interest and skills contribute to this goal.

A member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science and continuously accredited by APA since 1954, our Clinical Science program has a history of generative collaborations within our areas of specialization (clinical neuropsychology, clinical child and family, clinical health psychology, and general psychopathology); as well as with the Psychology Department’s other graduate training programs (Cognition and Neural Sciences, Developmental, Social, and Quantitative); additional departments and colleges across campus (e.g., Educational Psychology, Ethnic Studies, Family and Consumer Studies, Gender Studies, Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology); and transformational centers of excellence such as the Consortium for Families and Health Research (C-FAHR). Applications from individuals whose interests lend themselves to such collaborations are particularly encouraged. The department promotes multidisciplinary collaboration outside of the Department of Psychology with active ties to the School of Computing, Bioengineering, the Business School, the College of Education, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Radiology, the Digital Health Initiative, the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), the Behavioral Health Innovation and Dissemination Center (BHIDC), the Utah Network for LGBTQ Thriving (ThriveNet), and the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center.

The University of Utah values candidates who have experience working in settings with students, staff, faculty and patients from diverse backgrounds and possess a strong commitment to improving access to higher education, employment opportunities, and quality healthcare for historically underrepresented groups. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, including individuals from historically underrepresented groups, such as minorities, women, qualified persons with disabilities and protected veterans. Veterans’ preference is extended to qualified applicants, upon request and consistent with University policy and Utah state law. Upon request, reasonable accommodations in the application process will be provided to individuals with disabilities. To inquire about the University’s hiring policies or to request disability accommodation, please contact: Director, Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, 201 S. Presidents Circle, Rm 135, (801) 581-8365.

The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City nestled in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. With an enrollment of 31,000 students (and growing), it is the flagship university for the state of Utah. The university administration provides strong support for faculty research and teaching in the Psychology Department. Please submit a teaching statement, a curriculum vitae, a cover letter detailing experience with teaching, clinical practice and supervision, and your fit for the position, an example of professional writing (journal article, de-identified assessment report, book chapter), and contact information for three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation. Applications should be submitted at: https://utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/187974. Applications received by October 31, 2025 will be reviewed.
