Department of Social Work

Application Information

The Department of Social Work is seeking to fill an Assistant Professor of Practice, fixed-term track faculty appointment (i.e. non-tenure track). Position may include teaching at the undergraduate (BSW) or graduate (MSW) levels, depending on Departmental needs.

The position is full-time and considered 40 hours a week for 9 months of each year.

Salary Range: $50,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Anticipated workload distribution, depending on departmental needs:

  • 80% teaching and 20% service.
  • For 80% teaching loads, course load is 4 courses each semester.
Essential Functions
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses during fall and spring semesters.
  • Course instruction will be primarily face-to-face, and it is required that candidates be able and present to teach in that format.
  • Engagement in service depending on Department needs.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • 2 years of related experience post MSW degree completion.
  • Knowledge of academic and social work practice environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching in higher education at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  • Social work licensure in Texas or eligibility for licensure in Texas.
  • Doctoral degree in social work or a related field.
