Associate or Full Professor
The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Notre Dame announces a search for a senior scholar of Africana Studies, beginning Fall 2026. The appointment is at the associate or full professor level with the tenure home in Africana Studies. The department is searching for a scholar with a strong record of impactful research and excellent teaching in one or more of the subfields comprising Africana Studies. Particular areas of interest include Black feminism, Black epistemologies, and Caribbean studies.
Established in 2005, the Department of Africana Studies is an interdisciplinary department devoted to the study of the histories, politics, and cultures of peoples of African descent across the African diaspora. The department includes faculty representing a number of disciplines and fields including Anthropology, Film Television and Theatre, Foodways, Education, English, History, Political Science, and Theology, and offers a major, minor, and supplementary major.
