Clinical Research Coordinator - East Bay (Alameda County)
The Community Health Technician (CHT) will perform independently or with general direction to execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols and outreach activities, as directed by the Study Coordinator and Principal Investigator (PI). This includes coordinating the data collection and daily operations of this community-based study under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF policies, and relevant regulatory agency policies.
The incumbent's duties may include but are not limited to: supporting the implementation of a mobile glaucoma screening program; coordinating participant outreach and appointment scheduling; conducting on-site vision screening procedures, data collection and entry; managing study progress; reporting study progress to investigators; participating in any internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols; and performing other duties as assigned.
The CHT will be responsible for driving and operating a mobile outreach van equipped with devices for vision screening. Therefore, candidates must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record (no violations, at-fault accidents, or traffic-related convictions), and be comfortable operating and parking the van and managing sensitive equipment. The van will be stationed at partnering clinics, where the CHT will conduct on-site vision screenings, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), tonometry, visual field testing, and visual acuity assessment. CHTs will be trained to perform screening procedures, in addition to REDCap data entry and other research tasks.
Ideal applicants will have ophthalmic/optometric technician training or certifications and/or prior experience in community-based health work, preferably in clinical or research settings, and should be comfortable working with diverse populations. Strong communication, organization, and data entry skills are essential. Spanish language proficiency and experience with electronic health records is strongly preferred.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in the East Bay Area.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $34.32 - $55.19 (Hourly Rate).
