This role sits within the Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement (SIEE) which is responsible for supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student community and working with partner communities and broader society towards positive change.

Why your role matters
As Communications Officer (Internal), you will support the delivery of a trusted, high‑impact corporate communications service, implementing communications plans that support clear and consistent University‑wide messaging, ensuring strong alignment between staff and student communications.

Sitting within the Corporate Communications team, you will build relationships with your key stakeholders to deliver a customer-focused service that shapes targeted internal communication activities that resonate across UNSW, maintaining tools and resources that keep the University informed, connected and engaged.

The Communications Officer (Internal) will report to Communications Manager – Internal in the Corporate Communications Team and has no direct reports.

Your day to day includes:

  • Coordinating and distributing University-wide internal communications including Inside UNSW and all-staff messages.
  • Ensuring accuracy, relevance and consistency of messaging across the University’s internal communications channels.
  • Advising stakeholders on internal communications, including most appropriate channels to deliver effective and targeted messages to staff. Liaise with stakeholders to develop internal communications plans and disseminate content.
  • Developing and maintaining a range of internal communications tools, documents and user guides to support effective communications.
  • Utilising quantitative and qualitative data to continually enhance UNSW internal communications channels.

Who you are: We’re looking for a great communicator with experience in delivering internal communications across a range of platforms, with the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications with a depth of relevant experience in communications or marketing, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and measuring internal communications within a complex organisational environment.
  • Understanding of target audience, with a highly effective writing style in high-impact messaging to internal audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into simple messages for communication to a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
