The Opportunity

PennWest University is seeking a strategic Controller to lead financial operations, providing oversight to Accounting, Accounts Payable, Grant Accounting, and Student Accounts. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations and manages external audits, reporting, and grant systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop policies and procedures for stewardship of university resources and compliance with regulations.
• Manage external auditors and ensure conformance with GAAP, GASB, and other standards.
• Maintain chart of accounts and lead initiatives for efficient business processes.
• Oversight of Fixed Assets, financial analysis, and collaboration with various offices.
• Mentor staff and align departmental goals with institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Ten years of experience in accounting/finance with knowledge of financial principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proven leadership in a complex environment with audit and compliance experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or CPA.
• Experience in Governmental Accounting, SAP, and higher education environments.
