Job Description:

  • Provide leadership, management and oversight of the Brown Center for Leadership and Service
    • Develop and oversee implementation of a strategic plan for programs, education, and outreach including but not limited to leadership development, service learning, community partnerships, and civic engagement. Embed a culture of service into the student experience from orientation through graduation
    • Guide the development of leadership and service presentations to the UF student community
    • Coordinate recognition, awards, grants and/or scholarships for students (e.g. Projects for Peace, Presidential Service Awards)
    • Provide oversight to immersion experiences and experiential education programs.
    • Ensure collaborative partnerships with service and/or civic organizations in Alachua County for the purpose of student and university civic engagement and/or service learning. Expand reach to state, national, and global presence.
    • Responsible for general oversight, training, and recognition of volunteers, mentors, and site-leaders with the Brown Center for Leadership and Service
    • Collaborate with various campus and community stakeholders, including academic affairs, other student affairs departments, the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, the UF International Center, and local city/county agencies.
  • Supervision
    • Provides supervision and feedback for staff to ensure alignment with the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the division and center.
    • Coordinates onboarding efforts for new staff and creates opportunities for ongoing professional development for team and individual on staff
    • Provides strategic direction on staff initiatives and responsibilities, ensuring that administrative, risk, and general university protocols are followed.
  • Administrative (assessment, finance)
    • Provides oversight for administrative processes for the center, including assessment, budget, coordinates onboarding efforts for new staff and creates opportunities for ongoing professional development for team and individual on staff
    • Provides strategic direction on staff initiatives and responsibilities, ensuring that administrative, risk, and general university protocols are followed.
    • Collaborates with the director for student philanthropy to develop and implement engagement strategies for fundraising and development opportunities to support student initiatives.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Ensures that department volunteering efforts, travel, community outreach and other efforts follow appropriate state and local mandates, university risk management protocols, and additional measures to ensure safety and security of participants.
    • Collaborates with DSA Director of Risk Management on appropriate training, documentation, liability waivers, and forms.

Expected Salary: $90,000 - $95,000

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, or comparable field
  • EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience developing and implementing service learning, civic engagement, and leadership initiatives at a major public university; Demonstrated experience in developing and building community partnerships with local stakeholders.
  • KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated knowledge developing and implementing service learning, civic engagement, and leadership initiatives at a major public university; Demonstrated knowledge developing and building community partnerships with local stakeholders; Demonstrated knowledge of computers and basic software applications
  • SKILLS: Demonstrated planning skills; Demonstrated organizational skills; Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written); Demonstrated proficiency with computers and basic software applications; Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously; Demonstrated ability to work in an environment with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
