Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology is the largest academic department within the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and provides academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department's five staff provide support in all aspects of the academic mission of the department.
Position Overview
The Department Coordinator in the Department of Psychology coordinates core academic, administrative, and operational functions. The position-holder also works as an Assistant to the Chair, centralizing administrative responsibilities within the position. They collect data for the APR and strategic planning, assist with DP&TC management; takes minutes for all department and committee meetings and ensures accurate record-keeping; administers polls and surveys; summarizes results; and organizes events and meetings. The Department Coordinator for Psychology coordinates the educational mission of the department and works with the Undergraduate Program Director and Graduate Program Directors to create and submit the Schedule of Classes for both undergraduate and graduate programs; serves as an ex-officio member of the Undergraduate Program Committee and as the Psychology representative on the University-wide Classroom Committee; and administers polls related to course registration and maintains and archives course records. The position-holder also serves as the primary point of contact for department visitors, including managing phone calls and greeting and directing visitors. They manage the day-to-day operations of the office; serves as a liaison with other departments across campus as needed; oversees departmental research lab space and physical offices, including signage, painting, and basic upkeep; serves as the point of contact for DoIT for Webex, VOIP, and other infrastructure support; acts as the primary point of contact with Facilities; maintains copiers and related supplies; assists with inventory management and purchasing as needed; and maintains the departmental key check-in and return system.

Responsibilities
- Departmental administration and assistant to the Chair including creating and administering surveys; collecting and summarizing data to support departmental decision-making; participating in strategic planning, Academic Program Review (APR), and related departmental initiatives.
- Coordinating Department Promotion & Tenure review processes.
- Organizing meeting and events.
- Working with the Undergraduate Program Director and Graduate Program Directors to create and submit the Schedule of Classes for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Serving as an ex-officio member of the Undergraduate Program Committee and as the Psychology representative on the University-wide Classroom Committee.
- Administering polls related to course registration and maintains and archives course records.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the office; liaison with other departments across campus as needed; overseeing departmental research lab space and physical offices, including signage, painting, and basic upkeep.
- Serving as the point of contact for DoIT for Webex, VOIP, and other infrastructure support.

- Assisting with inventory and purchasing as needed.
- Attending meetings and taking minutes, record-keeping and archiving documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- One year of related work experience
- Must have strong quantitative skills and facility with Excel, Powerpoint, and MS Word.
- Must know how to create documents via DocuSign and Google forms.
- Must have demonstrated strength in writing and organizational skills.
- Note: Formal graduate-level education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 15 graduate program credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with department or unit coordination preferred.
Salary
$50,000 to $57,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
