ResponsibilitiesUnder limited supervision, performs a variety of duties associated with identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts for the university, its academic programs and institutional projects. As a key member of the Institutional Advancement and External Affairs leadership team, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for identifying and cultivating prospects for the purpose of soliciting funds greater than $75,000 from foundations and corporations to support the ongoing needs of the Johnson C. Smith University. This position reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Direct, develop and implement comprehensive fundraising programs and campaigns to help the University achieve its fundraising goals. Minimum fundraising goal for the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will be determined annually by the President and VP for Institutional Advancement.
Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive proactive plan focused on expanding and enhancing foundation and corporate relationships by directing and coordinating activities related to both.
Achieve or exceed the minimum fundraising goal. for the Director will be determined annually by the President and Vice President.
Research corporations, foundations and related organizations to develop a viable prospect list that support programs and activities at the University; develop a methodology for obtaining their support.
Build, maintain and foster a large and robust portfolio of Corporate and Foundations prospects, ensuring regular stewardship, completion of impact reports and solicitations.
Lead the development and implementation of a high-quality stewardship process. Ensure stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships and accurate planned gifts by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.
Cultivate, solicit and negotiate with potential donors
Assist with other activities, including planned and individual giving efforts, donor recognition and stewardship activities, including the 1867 Giving Society.
Steward gift agreements, including endowed scholarships.
Utilize the Blackbaud and other CRM systems for relationship management of current donors and prospects. Participate in prospect management meetings and assists the Vice President and other advancement colleagues with major gift fundraising.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs additional duties as required to meet organizational needs and assigned by the VP of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs to include but not limited to the following:
- Write/submit grant requests and proposals
- Take a primary role in implementing all large-scale fundraising activities for the University
- Coordinateon-campusdonorrelationsactivities
- Represent the University on external committees, work teams, civic partnerships as assigned by VP Institutional Advancement and External Affairs
QualificationsRequires a Bachelor's degree in business or other relevant field and at least three to five years of significant experience in fundraising or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
