Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the management, development, and training and implementation for the First Year Experience (FYE) program and University College Learning Communities. The FYE program and Learning Communities consist of community engagement activities, co-curricular activities, student leadership, financial literacy, academic instructional techniques, while also facilitating models of instructional delivery, promotion of the course and program, and oversight of reports, assessments, planning, and evaluation, while maintaining fluid operation of other related administrative activities with and for the course program.
This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and be a member of the Academic Student Support Division of Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities
- The Director will be the subject matter expert in the development of the FYE content and will work with the university's instructional design team to ensure that the course provides interaction and engagement at all levels including student to faculty, student to student, and student to content.
- Responsible for scheduling and staffing all FYE courses to meet the demands of incoming freshman/student populations and for the training and development of FYE instructors.
- Responsible for coordinating first-year learning communities and the co-curriculum component in collaboration with student affairs and residential life for University College.
- Responsible for reviewing student assessment of first year courses including course evaluation results and other surveys as appropriate, assessing the effectiveness of the FYE course and providing annual and semester assessments of the program with potential adjustments and enhancements.
- Will teach, at minimum, one ASU 1101 (freshman seminar) course per semester.
- Coordinates service-learning opportunities for students in ASU 1101.
- Oversees ASU 1101 instructors.
- Fulfill ad hoc assignments as assigned and perform other duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in appropriate field; knowledge of best practices in retention; and 2-3 years of experience working with students and administering programs.
Experience with learning communities.
Teaching experience in higher education and experience with first-year programs.
Prior leadership experience or involvement in FYE.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in teaching first-year courses is preferred.
