Student Svcs Program Coord II
Provides administrative support to the Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Visual Art and Design (SVAD) and serves as a liaison between the School, the Graduate School, and University offices. Advises SVAD Graduate Director on matters related to student service programs, policies, and procedures. As Coordinator of Community Programs, responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the Columbia arts community to support SVAD Graduate Student recruitment and professionalization, and coordinates student and visiting artist exhibitions at Stormwater Studios. Supports professional development for SVAD graduate and undergraduate students and fosters community engagement through educational programs, events, and interdisciplinary activities related to the arts and culture. Develops and produces internal and external communications to promote the work of the unit, faculty, and students via newsletters, website, and social media.
Job Duties:
- Provides administrative support to the Director of Graduate Studies, manages responsibilities related to graduate student programs, policies, and procedures, and assists current and prospective graduate students on admission, progression, and graduation requirements (20%).
- Serves as coordinator for Undergraduate and Graduate Student Exhibitions at SVAD’s Studio at Stormwater, schedules activities and events, ensures compliance with policies, promotes exhibitions via social media, handles facility maintenance, manages budget and procurement, and acts as a community liaison (20%).
- Serves as liaison between SVAD and the Graduate School and other university offices, manages graduate student applications and correspondence, and tracks information (15%).
- Processes, manages, and updates graduate student files, handles requests for student information, processes hiring paperwork for graduate assistantships and hourly positions, and maintains databases for faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and visitors (15%).
- Communicates with potential and current students about graduate degree programs and works with the Office of International Support for documentation of international graduate students (5%).
- Oversees social media and website communications, writes and approves posts, coordinates publicity for SVAD events, and supervises social media intern content (20%).
- Contributes to the overall success of SVAD and College of Arts and Sciences by performing other duties as assigned (5%).
Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 2 or more years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of university policies on student information, proficiency with university databases and software like Adobe InDesign, web content management systems, social media, and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Salary: Starting at $42,633 annually.
Location: Columbia, South Carolina.
