We are seeking (1) Coordinator, Student Engagement to join the already awesome team taking them to the next level of excellence! ABOUT CULTURES, COMMUNITIES & INCLUSION Cultures, Communities & Inclusion (CCI) serves all students through programs and services that focus on GSU's strategic goals around Identity, Placemaking, and Belonging; Student Success; College to Career; and Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities. CCI programs and services reflect the cultures, backgrounds, identities, and experiences of our students, their families, and the people with whom our students will engage in their careers and communities. Supporting students across all campuses and preparing them to succeed in a diverse workforce is of paramount importance. CCI supports the ways all students experience their own sense of their identities and how they interact with people who share their identities along with those who hold identities different from their own. Students may hold multiple identities that can include but are not limited to racial identities, ethnicities, gender and sexuality, faith and spirituality, nationality and citizenship, and other affiliations and communities of commonality, such as first-generation college students, adult and parenting students, military-connected students, and more. When students feel a sense of belonging and inclusion it can positively impact their retention, progress, graduation, future success in their chosen professions, and their contributions and service to their families and communities. Professional development opportunities and mentorship A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO Coordinators of Student Engagement implement specific programs and services assigned to them based on their areas of expertise and oversee all related activities for those assigned functions. This can include creating budgets, marketing, and managing related processes to ensure successful implementation of assigned programs and services. Coordinators work directly with students, assisting and supporting them in various ways and engaging them in their student development and sense of belonging at the university. This important front-line role has a direct impact on the students who visit the various spaces within CCI, providing a welcoming environment for all students. With programming being a major focus of this role, advance planning and coordination with colleagues serving in similar roles within the department and across the division and university is very important. Coordinators may directly supervise graduate assistants and/or student assistants. Serves on committees, task forces, work groups and special initiatives as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate and/or Director of Cultures, Communities & Inclusion RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE The coordinator may have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, coordinating events, program assessments, marketing, and delivering workshops that center identity development and community building for all students. Our students may hold multiple identities that can include but are not limited to racial identities, ethnicities, gender and sexuality, faith and spirituality, nationality and citizenship, and other affiliations and communities of commonality, such as first-generation college students, adult and parenting students, military-connected students, and more. In addition, the coordinator will collaborate with campus and community partners to facilitate community building, raise awareness, and advance inclusion and belonging at GSU.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience or a combination of training and experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling or related degree The ability to work with, advise, and support the success of culturally, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse students from diverse disciplines. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret salient data and the ability to communicate this knowledge to the university community and the public. Experience with the allocation and management of Student Activity Fees. Experience with grant writing, and the allocation of grant funds and reporting of grant funding. Outstanding leadership, management, interpersonal, and project planning skills to relate and work with a variety of faculty, students, parents, staff, and community members. Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and activities, make effective use of resources, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision required.
