General Summary

The Director of Residence Life plans, organizes, directs, budgets, supervises, and evaluates campus residential operations for approximately 375 beds. Reviews, recommends, implements and modifies residence hall procedures and regulations. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures. The Director resides on campus in a semi-furnished apartment. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for interviewing, recommending for hire, training, supervising, and evaluating Residence Life staff. Ensures clear communication of performance expectations, conducts regular staff meetings, and provides guidance or correction on matters, as needed.

Oversees and resides in the Residence Hall during student occupancy, providing leadership for operational aspects of campus housing. Responsibilities include managing check-in/check-out, supervising daily functions, conducting inspections, assessing damages and issuing fines, and coordinating housing logistics such as requests, roommate matching, room assignments, transfers, and waitlists.

Monitors residents' compliance with Standards of Progress and supports their mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Identifies concerns and refers students to appropriate internal and external resources for personal, academic, and conflict resolution needs. Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management and the Counseling/Prevention Department to address health and safety issues and ensure a supportive living environment.

Develop and implement safety protocols to maintain a secure living environment. This includes planning and conducting fire drills, establishing emergency procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety standards throughout the residence halls.

Provide leadership and support for campus engagement initiatives by co-sponsoring the Campus Activity Board (CAB) to ensure student voice. Serves on the Campus CARE team and participates in other campus committees as deemed appropriate to support student success, retention, and campus initiatives.

Collaborate with campus programs and external partners to coordinate housing for short-term truck driving students, summer conference groups, and other specialized populations. Coordinates arrangements for housing needs and provides support services as needed to meet the unique requirements of these groups.

Coordinates and collaborates with other Residence Life personnel to ensure college-wide uniformity in housing policies and practices and conducts an annual review of the Residence Hall Handbook to recommend updates to policies and procedures for campus housing.

Coordinates disciplinary processes in partnership with the Director of Student Development and Judicial Board advisors and attends Judicial Board hearings as needed.

Partners with the Director of Student Activities and Engagement to coordinate events that enrich the student experience within the residence halls and across campus.

Supports campus promotional initiatives by assisting with events such as Orientations, Visit Days, ACTIONS Day, Student Recognition and Awards ceremonies, and other student engagement activities. Works closely with Admissions and other departments to provide housing information, conduct residence hall tours, and introduce prospective students to campus life.
