Salary Range
$60,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Director of the Welcome Center and Campus Experience at The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) plays a key role in designing and delivering exceptional campus visit experiences for prospective students, families, and visitors. This position is responsible for managing daily operations of the Welcome Center, overseeing campus tours and virtual tours, coordinating recruitment events, new student orientation, and supporting strategic initiatives to enhance prospective student engagement. The Director collaborates with university departments to ensure a welcoming and informative experience that reflects the values and mission of UTPB.
- Oversee daily operations of the Welcome Center, ensuring an engaging and professional environment for all visitors.
- Supervise, train, and mentor student tour guides and Welcome Center staff to deliver high-quality campus visits.
- Develop and implement an innovative campus tour program, including individual and group visits, virtual tours, and specialty experiences.
- Coordinate logistics for large-scale recruitment and yield events such as preview days, transfer days, and open house events in partnership with Enrollment Management and university stakeholders.
- Oversee new student orientation for first-time freshman and transfer students.
- Utilize data and feedback from campus CRM to assess the effectiveness of campus visit experiences, making strategic recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop promotional materials, digital content, and outreach efforts that highlight the UTPB campus experiences.
- Foster relationships with local schools, community organizations, and key stakeholders to increase campus visit participation.
- Support efforts to align campus visits with broader enrollment strategies, including collaboration with Admissions, Financial Aid, Athletics and Academic Affairs.
- Maintain a deep understanding of university programs, resources, and student life to accurately represent the UTPB experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education (admissions, student affairs, or a related field with direct involvement in campus visits, event planning, or recruitment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and virtual communications tools.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

- Schedule
- Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
- Standard Working Conditions
- Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
- Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
- Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
- Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
