Job Summary

The Associate Director of Admission serves as a recruitment team lead, supporting the Director of First-Year Admission and the Director of Transfer Admission in achieving enrollment goals. This position functions as a day-to-day resource for the team by providing guidance, training, and answers to questions to ensure counselors have the tools and support they need to succeed. The Associate Director manages their own recruitment territory, with responsibility for meeting individual enrollment goals. This includes developing and executing recruitment strategies, representing Elmhurst University at events, and building strong relationships with prospective students, secondary schools, community colleges, and other organizations.

Salary Range

$58,000-$64,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.

Essential Functions

  • Build relationships with prospective first-year and transfer students and families for the purpose of informing them about University programs, admission and financial aid procedures.
  • Manage a caseload of prospective students which consists of lead generation, conversion of inquiries to applicants and ultimately to enrolled students.
  • Plan and execute a schedule of visits and communication with contacts in an assigned territory.
  • Guide and lead admission counselors in project planning and implementation.
  • Motivate and advise admission counselors throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • Mentor and share in the counseling and assistance to students in the admissions process.
  • Establish and support strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Assist with the management and interpretation of data to facilitate strategic planning.
  • Assist in planning and executing an organized communication plan with applicants and families in order to facilitate enrollment.
  • Represent Elmhurst at recruitment events and build relationships with community contacts to increase awareness and open doors to additional lead opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of academic policy and programmatic changes and nuances.
  • Create an environment conducive to individual and team success including training, leadership, and mentorship.
  • Maintain and author documents within system databases containing detailed information about application review, office policies, and outgoing correspondence.
  • Assist with strategizing, contributing to and editing recruitment plans to meet enrollment goals and update initiatives.
  • Build and analyze reports and summaries to share with admission team, supervisors and campus partners.
  • Identify and create training opportunities with campus partners to facilitate counselor proficiencies.
  • Influence marketing creatives and ensure brand quality and standards with marketing partners.
  • Write correspondence including admission letters, proposals, branded email and reports.
  • Assess and contribute to planning of campus events, working alongside campus partners.
  • Utilize Slate CRM to maximize recruiting efficiencies and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the strengths of being cross trained in both first-year and transfer academic policies, admission procedures and information to support overall departmental success and team dynamic.
  • Act in the absence of the directors in Admission as needed and fill in other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in college admissions or a comparable field.
  • Well-developed communication skills and an understanding of the mission of higher education (especially of private liberal arts institutions) is necessary.
  • Commitment to recruiting a diverse student body.
  • Able to lift and move 50 lbs.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Recruitment visits are performed using personal transportation, costs reimbursed. Ability to carry and lift display and promotional materials, approximately 50 pounds.

Work Hours

Includes some evenings and weekends, as assigned.
